Senator Kevin Parker Host 10th Annual Job Fair

BROOKLYN, NY (6/29/17) – On Tuesday, June 27, State Senator Kevin Parker in partnership with New York City Councilman Jumaane D. Williams held his 10th Annual Job Fair at the Student Union Center at Brooklyn College, City University of New York. The event, co-sponsored by Opportunities For A Better Tomorrow (OBT), welcomed over 200 job seekers to on-site interviews with recruiters from various organizations, resume writing workshops, and interview prep sessions.

“Every year my office eagerly looks forward to our annual job fair to pair our communities talent with businesses and agencies that provide living wage jobs with benefits,” said Senator Parker. “The job fair presents the opportunity for constituents of all background to directly meet recruiters from various industries and learn more about employment opportunities. The workshop component of the event is extremely important because we are working to ensure constituents are not only are aware of job vacancies, but are prepared to apply with a solid resume and great interview skills,” concluded the Brooklyn lawmaker.

“I look forward to the annual job fair that my office partners in alongside Senator Kevin Parker year after year. While the country has gradually bounced back from the recession, many are still feeling its effects. We can’t ignore these families. Events such as these help us as legislators to affect these numbers and bring resources and hope to our constituents,” said Council Member Jumanne D. Williams.

During the job fair, our team was able to meet prospects for various job roles within our company. At the event, attendees were able to meet recruiters from some of the following organizations: Verizon, Well Care, Nontraditional Employment, Avon, Correctional Officer Manhattan School of Tech, Department of Civil Service, Immigrant Affairs, BEOC, ICL, Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow, Recruiting and Retention NCO/Army, Pre- K For All, Nursing Personnel Homecare, Nursing Personnel Homecare, Penda Aiken and Associates, Ultimate Care, Inc., America Works, Inc., The Jewish Board, Peace Corps, Staten Island Veterans Center, Caribbean Chamber of Commerce, Prime America, Just Energy, NYC Transit Authority and the FDNY.
