Senator Kevin Parker Hosts 14th Annual Harvest Fest – Back-To-School Celebration!

BROOKLYN, NY (8/28/17) – On Saturday, August 26th State Senator Kevin Parker hosted his 14th Annual Harvest Fest Back-To-School Celebration at Paerdegat Park in Brooklyn, NY. This essential community event was held in partnership with Health First, Capital One, Sesame Flyers International, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Delta Rho Omega Chapter and Spectrum. During the event Senator Parker distributed over 1,500 backpacks filled with school supplies to students throughout Central Brooklyn as well as other parts of New York City. During the event families were treated to free food and informational health consultations. The event included live entertainment and cultural art performances by Ifetayo Cultural Arts Academy, as well as other local organizations. Other activities included an outdoor mobile library station where youth were able to broaden their literacy and reading comprehension horizons, compliments of the Brooklyn Library.
“The Annual Harvest Fest – Back-To-School Celebration is one of my favorite events. Every year during Harvest Fest I have the opportunity to engage with families and get students excited for the new school year” said Senator Kevin Parker. “Being prepared with school supplies is the first step to ensuring academic success, this event helps ensure these students are firmly supported in taking that first step,” concluded the Brooklyn lawmaker.
