Brooklyn, NY – Saying he is "honored to be given the important leadership position in the Senate Democratic Conference," State Senator Kevin Parker (D-Brooklyn) graciously accepted his recent appointment as Minority Whip of the Senate Democratic by Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins.
"I want to thank our leader Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins for putting her trust in me to help guide the Democratic Conference,” said Senator Parker. “I am looking forward to continue working with my colleagues in developing a legislative agenda and passing bills that will help the State of New York to grow. Now more than ever, we as legislators at the state level need to govern in way that helps the struggles families to make ends meet especially in this climate of fear and despair.”
"Senate Democrats represent the cities, the suburbs and of the most rural areas of New York State. I understand the challenges that face all regions of this great state. As such, I will play an essential role in communicating our leadership’s message of economic growth, fiscal responsibility and prosperity for all New Yorkers," Senator Parker said.
Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins said, “Senator Kevin Parker has been a long time member of our conference, and he is deeply committed to our Democratic values. I know he will continue to be a strong voice for all New Yorkers and I thank him for his service. That is why I am proud to name Senator Parker as Senate Democratic Conference Whip.”
This is the second time that the Brooklyn lawmaker will be holding the leadership position having previously been appointed the Minority Whip in the 2007-2008 legislative term.
