State Senator Kevin Parker Advocates for Resistance Agenda Anti- Gun Violence Legislative Package
May 12, 2017
(Brooklyn, New York) - In President Trump’s recent address to the National Rifle Association, the 45th President made it clear that the federal government had no interest in further curbing gun violence, but rather are focused on dismantling federal guns laws that already exist. In response to this potential public safety crisis, the Senate Democratic Conference introduced a series of anti- gun violence bills as part of their Resistance Agenda. The laws are intended to protect New Yorkers from gun violence, while keeping communities safe.
Of the nine proposed laws in the Senate Democrats’ Resistance Agenda Anti-Gun Violence Legislative Package, Senate Bill S.5829, which will prohibit the possession or manufacture of any firearm, rifle, or shotgun, that is undetectable by an X-Ray machine, metal detector, or magnetometer, was authored by State Senator Kevin Parker.
“My colleagues and I will continue to push common sense legislation to protect all New Yorkers from gun violence and keep our communities safe. Our proposed package will create more accountability not just for gun owners, but for gun manufactures as well,” said Senator Parker.
