What: New York State Senator Leroy Comrie will host a prom wear giveaway for local high school students ahead of prom season. The event is the result of a two-month long collaboration among local businesses, non-profit organizations, Greater Springfield Community Church, and the office of Senator Comrie.
Prom is an important milestone for young men and women, but the costs associated with preparing for it are oftentimes too high. The organizers of the Prom Wear Giveaway hope to help dozens of hardworking high school students feel like they too can afford to go to prom. Girls will be given to opportunity to select from new and gently used dresses—many of which were generously donated by community members—while boys will be treated to haircuts courtesy of local barbers.
