Women’s History Month gives us an opportunity to celebrate the contribution of women, who through their work, service or mission have impacted the lives of many. Let us take this time to acknowledge the amazing women here in our community.
I am asking you to join me in recognizing Antonia Clemente and her organization The Healing Center (THC). This organization’s mission is committed to the intervention and prevention of family violence, abuse and sexual assault valuing the diversity of faith, culture and personal experiences of the victims seeking help. THC provides individual supportive counseling, information, and assistance to victims and survivors of domestic violence, facilitates support groups, provides educational workshops, raises awareness on elder abuse, provides safe space for children who witness domestic violence, offers a special program for teenage girls who witness and are victimized by violence in the home and teen dating violence.
To provide assistance to the Healing Center, I am asking the community to donate gift cards that will be presented to The Healing Center during a reception held on April 28th from 6pm to 8pm at Norwegian Christian Home located at 1250 67th St, Brooklyn, NY 11219. Gift cards for supermarkets and chain store pharmacies can be delivered to my office at 7408 Fifth Avenue by Thursday April 27th. Please note the amount of your contribution directly on the gift card.
Also, we all have a special woman in our life who has influenced our lives, be it a role model or mentor, a family member, someone from our community or famous person. I am asking you to write a brief paragraph about this special woman and what role she plays in your life. The paragraph should start with……This special woman influenced my life because……..
These letters will be on display during our reception and will also be rotated and displayed on my office window. Letters need to be sent to: Senator Marty Golden, 7408 Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11209 and must be received by Thursday April 27th.
Together let us honor the women who made a positive impact on our lives. If you have any questions or require more information, please feel free to call my office at 718-238-6044.
