Senator Gianaris Collects Donations for Victims of Natural Disasters in Puerto Rico and Mexico
September 30, 2017
(Queens, NY) – Following the tragic natural disasters that struck Puerto Rico and Mexico, Senator Michael Gianaris collected and donated items to help those suffering from the devastating effects of Hurricanes Maria and Irma, along with the victims of Mexico's deadly earthquakes.
“The residents of Puerto Rico and Mexico are hurting. I am deeply saddened by the destruction and damage that occurred. It is up to us to help get them back on their feet and rebuild. Thank you to the residents of Queens who stepped up for our neighbors and contributed,” said Senator Michael Gianaris.
Senator Gianaris delivered the materials to Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr., who sponsored the relief drive and arranged for delivery of the goods to the affected areas.
Among the materials donated were batteries, diapers, feminine hygiene products, non-perishable food, cases of water and more.
