New York State Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer and UR Medicine’s Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH) are partnering to raise awareness for National Dental Hygiene Month by offering free dental health screenings for residents in the city of Rochester.
“We understand that access to dental care can be a challenge for many,” said Ranzenhofer. “That is why we’re bringing the dentist to residents. Prevention is key to avoiding cavities and dental pain, and we’re delighted to bring this service to the community. I encourage Rochester residents to bring their entire family to this free health screening.”
EIOH’s SMILEmobile program– a dental office on wheels– will be available on Thursday, October 26th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the parking lot at St. Monica Church, 831 Genesee Street.
“Screenings take only 15 minutes,” said Carletta Carter, RDA, EIOH’s community liaison. “We’ll let residents know if they have any dental concerns and make recommendations. Maintaining good oral health by brushing and flossing is important to the whole body, and takes only a few minutes each day.”
People who get screened will receive goody bags, pizza and refreshments. No appointment is necessary. Contact Eastman Institute for more information at (585) 275-1131 or (585) 273-3757.
