Sen. Helming Celebrates Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades in Newark

NEWARK – Senator Pam Helming recently attended a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the Village of Newark’s wastewater treatment plant improvements. The project received an award from the American Council of Engineering Companies, and Senator Helming presented Mayor Taylor with a New York State Senate Citation to recognize the village’s work to upgrade its infrastructure and save money for taxpayers. Along with Mayor Taylor and Assemblyman Bob Oaks, Senator Helming also spoke at the event and hailed the project’s many successes as well as the partnership between local and state government.

“This wastewater treatment plant project has so many benefits for the Village of Newark and its residents. One of the most interesting advantages is that the plant has a new composting facility that will allow the village to re-use the waste from the plant instead of sending it to a landfill. This will protect the environment and the natural resources of our region while cutting the village’s costs over the long term. I commend Mayor Taylor and all of the village employees, as well as the contractors and consultants, for their fantastic work on this project,” Senator Helming said.
