Sen. Helming Joins Webster Community in Commemorating 9/11 Anniversary

Senator Pamela A. Helming (R,C,I-Canandaigua) joined local officials and residents of Webster at Veterans Memorial Park in the Village on Monday, Sept. 11 to pay tribute to the men and women who lost their lives during the tragic events on Sept. 11, 2001 as well as the first responders and service members who served and sacrificed in the wake of the attacks. The ceremony drew about 100 residents and more than 30 Webster firefighters and other first responders, Village Mayor Darrell Byerts, Town Supervisor Ron Nesbitt, Assemblyman Mark Johns, a handful of other town and village officials, and the Chorus of Genesee.  

“It was great to see our community coming together for the 16^th consecutive year to commemorate this solemn occasion. The tragic events that unfolded on the day of Sept. 11 are one of those moments in time in which you will always remember where you were when you heard or saw the news of commercial airplanes crashing into buildings in what turned out to be an attack on America and all that she stands for. This ceremony is a reminder that we must never forget Sept. 11, 2001 – the lives lost, the lessons learned, the way we stood united as Americans despite our differences and our disagreements. It was a true honor to join local officials and the residents of Webster at their annual 9/11 ceremony as well as pay tribute to our brave first responders and service members who continue to put their lives on the line 24/7 for us,” Senator Helming said.
