Senator Pamela A. Helming (R,C,I-Canandaigua) today announced that the Finger Lakes Area Counseling and Recovery Agency, based in Clifton Springs in Ontario County, is one of six projects that received a combined $18.7 million in funding to support the Finger Lakes region’s health care system. The money is part of the overall $491 million Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program to improve patient care in communities throughout New York State by developing high-quality medical facilities and programs that serve a variety of needs.

FLACRA received $3.5 million to further integrate its inpatient rehabilitation with its onsite outpatient services and improve the transition of patients back into their communities. The overall Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program funding was enacted through this year’s New York State budget. FLACRA was awarded its money based on the strength of its application.

“I am so pleased that we were able to achieve this funding in the budget for our health care facilities across the Finger Lakes region and that the Finger Lakes Area Counseling and Recovery Agency was able to benefit from it. With the heroin and opioid epidemic becoming more prevalent every day, FLACRA’s services are becoming even more crucial to help those struggling with addiction to overcome this disease and return health and safe to our community. As a member of the New York State Senate Joint Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction, I will continue to advocate for FLACRA and those who provide these important recovery services,” Senator Helming said.

These vital resources will allow for the desperately needed renovation of FLACRA’s home base in Clifton Springs. More significantly, it will include the opportunity to add 25 treatment beds, alleviating the constant waiting list that is unacceptable in this time of need.

“As a result, more lives will be saved, more individuals can move to lifelong recovery, and more families will be reunited. We thank the community, our Governor, and our Legislature, most especially Senator Pam Helming, for all their support for this opportunity to assist FLACRA in this health care transformation,” FLACRA Executive Director Martin Teller said.

Senator Helming represents the 54th Senate District, which consists of Seneca and Wayne Counties, parts of Cayuga and Ontario Counties, and the towns of Lansing and Webster. For more information, please visit Senator Helming’s website, or follow @SenatorHelming on Facebook or Twitter.
