Senator Pamela A. Helming (R,C,I-Canandaigua) met with Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts, left, and Williamson Central School District Superintendent Greg Macalusco on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, to talk about state funding for school resource officers in school districts. Williamson, like many other school districts throughout the 54th District, do not have the money in their budgets to pay for these positions on their own but consider them important to keeping students, teachers, and staff safe and secure during their school day.
“I had a very informative meeting with Sheriff Virts and Superintendent Macalusco, and it was a pleasant, positive conversation. Meeting with community leaders and listening to their concerns is very important to me because it lets me know what is going on throughout the 54th District and helps me form opinions when it comes to crafting legislation. I certainly appreciate Sheriff Virts and Superintendent Macalusco taking the time to talk with me,” Senator Helming said.
Senator Helming represents the 54th Senate District, which consists of Seneca and Wayne Counties, parts of Cayuga and Ontario Counties, and the towns of Lansing and Webster. For more information, please visit Senator Helming’s website, or follow @SenatorHelming on Facebook or Twitter.
