Senator Pamela A. Helming (R,C,I-Canandaigua) joined Auburn Police Chief Shawn Butler, Deputy Police Chief Roger Anthony, Mayor Mike Quill, members of the Auburn City Council, and Auburn Downtown Business Improvement District Executive Director Stephanie DeVito Tuesday, Sept. 12 to cut the ribbon on the City of Auburn Police Department’s newly renovated command center. After the ribbon cutting, Senator Helming took a tour of the redesigned and remodeled facility, which includes four new interview rooms, a break room, a training room, and a sally port, a separate entrance for people taken into custody.
“It was a pleasure to join Chief Butler, Mayor Quill, and other city officials as they unveiled their updated command center. With the rise in reported domestic violence incidents and the growing heroin and opioid epidemic across our region, it is critically important that we provide our local law enforcement with the resources necessary to bring them up to 21st century policing standards so that they can continue to do their jobs effectively and keep our community safe. These new renovations will help improve the manner in which the department handles those taken into custody and takes care of victims or witnesses that come into the facility. It was so great to see a real sense of pride from both the officers and residents of the community who were at the ribbon cutting,” Senator Helming said.
Senator Helming represents the 54th Senate District, which consists of Seneca and Wayne Counties, parts of Cayuga and Ontario Counties, and the towns of Lansing and Webster. For more information, please visit Senator Helming’s website, or follow @SenatorHelming on Facebook or Twitter.
