Senator Helming to Honor Local Veterans in Recognition Events

GENEVA – Senator Pam Helming today announced that she will honor 35 local military who were nominated earlier this year for induction into the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame. Commander Mike Bowen, a U.S. Navy veteran from Seneca Falls, was inducted into the Hall of Fame this spring, and Senator Helming wanted to recognize the other men and women who were considered for this prestigious award.
“All of the men and women who were nominated from our region for the Veterans Hall of Fame deserve recognition for their service to our country and our communities. I look forward to recognizing these distinguished veterans and personally thanking them for their service and sacrifice. As State Senator, I will continue to do everything possible to support and recognize our veterans,” Senator Helming said.
Senator Helming will host a series of four veterans recognitions events in November at which she will present State Senate Citations to the veterans and their families. The schedule for these events is as follows:
- 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Nov. 8 at Waterloo American Legion, 7 E. Williams St., Waterloo.
- 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Nov. 9 at Phelps American Legion, 1346 State Route 96, Phelps.
- 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Nov. 14 at Newark American Legion, 200 E. Union St., Newark.
- 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Auburn VFW, 44 E. Genesee St., Auburn.
The program for each event will last about an hour, and there will be light refreshments. Each event is open to the public. RSVPs are appreciated, and people are asked to call (315) 568-9816 or email monfilet@nysenate.gov.
The following is a list of the veterans who will be recognized at each of the events:
- Waterloo: William Bowen, James Branciforte, Wayne Campbell, Gerald DeGaray, Donald Dewind, William Foster, Daniel Grillone, Cliff Maus, Joseph Petrucci, Robert Van Keuren.
- Phelps: Glenn Anderson, Beth Beretta, Paul Donadio, Ronald Fast, Michael Hannan, Jeremy Marshall, Paul Newhook, Inman Steagall, Harold Stryker.
- Newark: Daniel Brooks, Earl Buchanan, Thomas Dawes, Joseph Hack, Edward Heit, Debbie Heit, Frank LaPlaca, Joseph Mack, Clifford Parton, Patrick Skelly, Edwin Tellier.
- Auburn: Charles Augello, Kim Bennett, Timothy Coretti, Michael Quill, Clarence VanOstrand.
