Senator Pamela A. Helming (R,C,I-Canandaigua) displays a copy of “Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed,” which she read during a story time at the Webster Public Library Thursday, July 20, 2017. Senator Helming visited with the children and their families before setting up her Mobile Office Hours event later that day at the library. As part of her time in Webster, Senator Helming also toured local businesses with the Webster Chamber of Commerce.
“It is important to read to young children to foster their skills and development at an early age. Now that my own children are grown, I really enjoyed reading to the pre-school children and meeting their families who came out for the story time. It is also important for school-age children to continue reading and learning during the summer months. To encourage reading, I am proud to sponsor a Summer Reading Program. Children who register for the program will receive a certificate celebrating their summer reading accomplishments. To register, visit helming.nysenate.gov. Thank you so much to the Webster Public Library for hosting my staff and me for the day,” Senator Helming said.
Senator Helming represents the 54th Senate District, which consists of Seneca and Wayne Counties, parts of Cayuga and Ontario Counties, and the towns of Lansing and Webster. For more information, please visit Senator Helming’s website, or follow @SenatorHelming on Facebook or Twitter.
