Senator Pam Helming attended the Fairville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary annual banquet on Sunday, Oct. 1 at the Steger Haus in Sodus to recognize four Ladies Auxiliary members for their longtime membership and contributions to the fire department, auxiliary, and community. Joined by President Michelle Iddings, Senator Helming presented New York State Legislative Proclamations to 60-year members Barbara Ramph and Irene Mackey and 50-year member Sandi Jordan, who is also a longtime firefighter and the second female volunteer accepted into the fire department. Senator Helming also honored 50-year member Marilyn Kommer, who was unable to attend the banquet.
“Our volunteer firefighters do a tremendous job serving and protecting our communities in times of crisis, and the women of the Ladies Auxiliary do amazing work to support them by providing refreshments and accommodations during and after an emergency response. They also host dinners and other events to raise money for the fire department and purchase equipment and supplies for the department. These four women in particular have shown a lifetime commitment to the auxiliary and the fire department. It was a pleasure to recognize them. Congratulations to Barbara, Irene, Sandi, and Marilyn, and thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for the community,” Senator Helming said.
Senator Helming represents the 54th Senate District, which consists of Seneca and Wayne Counties, parts of Cayuga and Ontario Counties, and the towns of Lansing and Webster. For more information, please visit Senator Helming’s website, or follow @SenatorHelming on Facebook or Twitter.
