Senator Pamela A. Helming (R,C,I-Canandaigua) attended a recognition night hosted by the Wayne County Board of Supervisors on Wednesday, Aug. 30 with Sodus Town Supervisor and Board Chairman Steve LeRoy and Assemblyman Bob Oaks (R,C-Macedon) to honor the individuals and organizations who supported the flood relief and recovery effort during the Lake Ontario flooding disaster earlier this year.
Senator Helming presented 50 certificates to volunteer fire departments from Wayne, Ontario, and Seneca counties; town highway departments from Wayne County; fire coordinators from Wayne, Ontario, and Seneca counties; New York Army and Air National Guard units; the Wayne County Emergency Management Department; the Wayne County Soil & Water Conservation District; Sheriff Barry Virts and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office; the New York State Department of Transportation; the villages of Sodus Point and Sodus; and Ontario County. Supervisor LeRoy handed out proclamations to these organizations on behalf of the Board of Supervisors, and Assemblyman Oaks was also on hand to recognize those who responded to the flooding.
“We can never give enough praise and thanks to the men and women who offered a helping hand in any way following this historic flooding disaster along the southern shore of Lake Ontario. Their cooperative attitudes and tireless efforts meant so much those who were devastated by this crisis, and we truly appreciate everything these organizations did over the past five months. We think especially of the volunteer firefighters who left their jobs and families to support this effort, but even those who were paid to do their job showed a tremendous amount of service and sacrifice also. I thank Supervisor LeRoy and the Wayne County Board of Supervisors for allowing me to be a part of this recognition night, and I thank Assemblyman Oaks and local elected officials from around Wayne County for joining us,” Senator Helming said.
Senator Helming represents the 54th Senate District, which consists of Seneca and Wayne Counties, parts of Cayuga and Ontario Counties, and the towns of Lansing and Webster. For more information, please visit Senator Helming’s website, or follow @SenatorHelming on Facebook or Twitter.
