Senator Pam Helming recently visited two dairy farms located in her district to learn about their successes as well as the challenges they face. Senator Helming is the Senate Chair of the Legislative Commission on Rural Resources and represents several of New York’s top agricultural counties. Since taking office in January, Senator Helming has visited many farms and agricultural businesses throughout her district. She toured EL-VI Farms in Newark and Will-O-Crest Farm in Clifton Springs.
“Despite the challenges that these family farms face in making their operations sustainable and profitable, the point that they emphasized is that New York State is a great place to farm because of its land and water resources. I have toured many farms throughout the district and this is something that I hear over and over from our farmers. It is fantastic to know how committed they are to our region and state. Their dedication inspires me to want to continue my efforts to support our job-creating local farms. As State Senator, I will continue to work with our local farmers to ensure that their priorities are represented,” Senator Helming said.
Senator Helming represents the 54th Senate District, which consists of Seneca and Wayne Counties, parts of Cayuga and Ontario Counties, and the towns of Lansing and Webster. For more information, please visit Senator Helming’s website, or follow @SenatorHelming on Facebook or Twitter.
