GENEVA – Senator Pam Helming stopped by the Boys & Girls Club on Monday, Oct. 30 to tour the facility and visit with the children and teenagers who take part in the Club. The Senator learned about the programs and support provided by Executive Director Chris Lavin, his staff, and volunteers. The Teen Center is a 21st century learning site that serves youth ages 10 -18 in an after-school program and an extended summer program in partnership with the Geneva City School District. The programs provided include youth development activities, drug and violence prevention programs, technology education, art, music and recreation. Hobart & William Smith Colleges is a key community partner and provides student volunteers for the program.

“The Boys & Girls Club of Geneva provides a safe place for our youth to go to after school to do their homework and take advantage of educational programs and activities that help build character and life skills. Many of these children and teens come from challenging home lives without the guidance and support they need to stay out of trouble and be successful in school. The Club not only empowers local children to reach their full potential but also serves as a benefit to the entire community. I want to thank Executive Director Chris Lavin, the staff, and all of the volunteers for their time and dedication to supporting these wonderful kids,” Senator Helming said.

Senator Helming represents the 54th Senate District, which consists of Seneca and Wayne Counties, parts of Cayuga and Ontario Counties, and the towns of Lansing and Webster. For more information, please visit Senator Helming’s website, or follow @SenatorHelming on Facebook or Twitter.
