Honoring Those Who Answered The Call

The Central and Northern New York regions are home to numerous veterans who made immeasurable sacrifices to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.  Even after returning from serving on the front lines of some of the most dangerous battles, these brave men and women continued to serve, as they worked to better their community.

As a small way to simply say “thank you,” I am once again accepting nominations for the New York State Senate’s “Veterans' Hall of Fame.”  Through this program, I have been able to shine the spotlight on dozens of local heroes within our region for the patriotism and citizenship they have displayed, both home and abroad.

Veterans that live in the 48th Senate District–which includes Jefferson, St. Lawrence and Oswego Counties–are eligible for nomination by veterans’ posts, family and friends, along with other community members.  Nomination forms can be found by visiting my website– www.ritchie.nysenate.gov–or by calling (315) 782-3418.  Nominations are due by May 1st, which starts National Military Appreciation Month.

Every year, I look forward to hearing the stories and firsthand accounts from these heroes who were willing to risk everything to protect our country.  I hope you will join me in honoring these brave and selfless patriots.
