Patty Ritchie

May 1, 2017

State Senator Patty Ritchie will host 10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum Day at the State Capitol on Tuesday, May 2nd.

This will be the sixth straight year Senator Ritchie has highlighted the brave men and women of the Division through the event.  In addition to paying tribute to their sacrifices, it will also shine a spotlight on the significant impact Fort Drum has on the region’s—as well as the state’s—economy.

“The heroes of the 10th Mountain Division put their lives on the line to selflessly protect the freedoms all Americans enjoy every day,” said Senator Ritchie.

“This annual event is a great opportunity to show my colleagues how important the 10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum are to our national security, as well as our economy and I am excited once again to welcome these brave troops to our state’s Capitol.”

Highlights of 10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum Day will include the Fort Drum Color Guard opening the day’s Senate session, as well as a special address before the full Senate by the new Commander of the 10th Mountain Division, Major General Walter Piatt. Session begins at 3:00 p.m., and will be livestreamed at www.nysenate.gov.

In addition, the day will also feature a number of interactive displays manned by troops, as well as those highlighting community groups integral to the relationship between Fort Drum and the North Country’s civilian community.
