Paying Tribute To The Terrific Women In Our Region

Across Central and Northern New York, women are breaking glass ceilings and devoting their time to improving our region.  Recently, I had a chance to honor 30 of these amazing individuals at my annual “Women of Distinction” ceremony.

Those recognized through the program, which honors women’s history in the Empire State by paying tribute to outstanding leaders and everyday citizens from today who are making a difference, represent a wide variety of ages, talents and professions. From those who are reaching new heights in their careers to those who have met life’s challenges head on with strength, grace and determination.

Recognizing local trailblazers through my Women of Distinction program is just part of the work I am doing to support women in New York State.  I am also pleased to share that just recently, I was named to the newly formed Women’s Caucus.  The caucus will address a wide array of public policy matters including creating career paths and job opportunities for young women and new college graduates and promoting entrepreneurship and business ownership for women throughout the state, among many other issues. 

In addition, the caucus will also hold women’s leadership forums and other public events across the state to encourage young women to pursue careers in public service and inspire the next generation of women leaders here in New York.
