July 5, 2017
State Senator Patty Ritchie is applauding nearly $26 million in new investments that will help make possible water infrastructure projects throughout Jefferson County.
The awards are the result of support in the state budget Senator Ritchie advocated for to help deliver more water infrastructure funding to communities across New York State.
“By supporting water infrastructure projects, we are helping to build stronger, healthier communities that are ready for new growth,” said Senator Ritchie. “I’m thrilled to see these investments being made in Jefferson County, which will help to safeguard public health and attract new businesses to our region.”
Projects receiving combinations of grants and interest-free loans in Senator Ritchie’s district include:
Town of Cape Vincent: $2.3 million total, including $622,140 in grant funding, a $905,537 zero-interest loan, and $790,914 in a previously approved grant to assist with the construction of a new distribution system to serve the Town of Cape Vincent Water District #6.
Village of Carthage: $3.5 million total, including a $2.8 million zero-interest loan to help cover costs associated with upgrades and the replacement of equipment at the Carthage-West Carthage Joint Water Pollution Control Facility.
Village of West Carthage: $8.3 million total, including a $6.5 million zero-interest loan to help cover costs associated with upgrades and the replacement of equipment at the Carthage-West Carthage Joint Water Pollution Control Facility.
