Ritchie Applauds Opening Of New Recovery Community and Outreach Center

State Senator Patty Ritchie is applauding the opening of the new center in Jefferson County that will help provide support to those struggling with drug abuse. 

The opening of the new Anchor Recovery Community and Outreach Center, which his located in Watertown, was made possible through $1.75 million in state funding. 

“Stemming the abuse of drugs in our communities depends on providing support and resources to those looking to break free from the cycle of addiction," said Senator Ritchie, who serves as a member of the Senate Joint Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction.  “I look forward to seeing how the new Anchor Recovery Community and Outreach Center helps to stop the spread of drugs, as well as make our community safer.”

The facility, which will be run by the Alcohol & Substance Abuse Council of Jefferson County, Inc.—also known as “Pivot”—will offer no-cost programs to those in recovery and their families. Services and programs provided at the Center will include self-help groups, health and well-ness activities, nutritional and parenting classes and services to help with insurance and treatment issues, among others.

The opening of the Anchor Recovery Community and Outreach Center builds on recent efforts to stop the spread of drugs in our communities.  On Monday, the Senate approved several measures—including two bills Senator Ritchie cosponsors—to crack down on the abuse of synthetic drugs and “designer” drugs, which in recent years have increased in popularity.
