State Senator Patty Ritchie is applauding over $21 million in funding to help make possible water infrastructure projects in Oswego and St. Lawrence Counties.

The funds are being made available to communities as a result from Senator Ritchie’s support in the recent state budget, which advocated to provide more funding for water projects across New York State.

“In order to keep our communities strong, healthy and an ideal place to attract future businesses, it’s vital to make investments in our region’s water infrastructure,” said Senator Ritchie.  “I’m pleased to see these investments being made, which will go a long way in the future development and growth of the regional economy and to help safeguard public health.”

Water projects receiving support from both grants and no-interest loans in Senator Ritchie’s district include:

Village of Phoenix: $926,396, which includes $318,657 in Water Infrastructure Improvement Act grant and a $607,739 zero interest loan, which will help connect the Village to the Metropolitan Water Board’s (MWB) water supply.

City of Ogdensburg: $20 million in zero interest loan which will assist in financing the costs of the design and construction of a wastewater treatment plant and improvements to a pump station
