Ritchie To Co-Host "Dairy Day" At State Capitol
June 6, 2017
Senate Agriculture Committee Chair Patty Ritchie is inviting the public and agriculture professionals from across the region and state to attend “Dairy Day” at the State Capitol.
The event–which is being held in “The Well” of the Legislative Office Building from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.–is a celebration of the New York dairy industry. Numerous vendors will be on hand offering free samples of their products and showcasing their services to dairy farmers.
This is the second consecutive year that Senator Ritchie has co-sponsored this event with the Chair of the Assembly Agriculture Committee, Bill Magee.
"Each and every day, thousands of dairy farmers across our state work hard to be part of producing everything from milk and cheese to yogurt and ice cream," said Senate Agriculture Committee Chair Senator Patty Ritchie. "I am proud to co-sponsor ‘Dairy Day’ for the second year in a row, which showcases the hard work done by New York dairy farmers and how important this essential industry is to strengthening communities across Central and Northern New York, as well as bolstering the state’s economy.”
The event will feature a ceremony starting at noon and will feature remarks by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Commissioner Richard Ball and New York Farm Bureau President David Fisher.
This event continues Senator Ritchie’s efforts to strengthen and highlight the dairy industry in New York. The new state budget includes nearly $10 million in fund for various agriculture programs designed to bolster this key sector of agriculture.
