Ritchie Delivers $75,000 In Funding To Improve Public Safety
July 18, 2017
State Senator Patty Ritchie is announcing she has secured $75,000 in special funding that will help local law enforcement agencies and fire departments improve public safety in communities across Oswego County.
Funds will be used by agencies and departments to make upgrades to their facilities, as well as purchase equipment that in turn, will help them to respond more efficiently and better protect the public from harm.
“There are few jobs more difficult—or dangerous—than those done by members of our law enforcement agencies and fire departments,” said Senator Patty Ritchie.
“As these men and women work to protect our communities, it’s critical that they have the resources they need to respond safely and efficiently. It is my hope that this funding will help them to do just that and in turn, help create a safer Oswego County for all who live here.”
“Patrolling the entire county is no easy feat, and having the necessary resources that allow sheriff’s deputies to be proficient when responding can make a difference when it comes to saving lives,” said Oswego County Sheriff Reuel Todd. “On behalf of the entire Oswego County Sheriff’s Department, I would like to thank Senator Ritchie for securing these funds, which will make our job easier and allow deputies to respond more efficiently.”
“When our department receives an emergency call, it’s so important for members to respond quickly,” said Don Labarge, Fire Commissioner for the Granby Center Volunteer Fire Department. “I would like to sincerely thank Senator Ritchie for providing this funding to our department, which will allow us to be better equipped to respond to emergencies, which in turn will help save lives.”
“Being an officer is not an easy job and it’s vital to make sure our officers have the tools they need to keep the community safe, as well as themselves,” said Michael Martin, Village of Pulaski Chief of Police. “Thank you Senator Ritchie for delivering this funding, which will help our officers to be better prepared for whatever situations they may encounter as they keep the area safe.”
