Ritchie: Over $450,000 Awarded to Improve Local Libraries

State Senator Patty Ritchie is announcing that libraries throughout Central and Northern New York will receive more than $450,000 in public library construction funds to make upgrades to their facilities.
Funding announced today is part of a $19 million capital fund appropriation in the 2016 State Budget for construction and renovation of public libraries and public library systems in New York State. Funding awarded in Senator Ritchie’s district will allow ten libraries to enhance energy efficiency, make infrastructure improvements, improve handicapped accessibility and more.
“The libraries in our region do an excellent job of connecting people with endless opportunities for learning, growth and culture,” said Senator Ritchie, who serves as Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Libraries. “I am pleased that through this funding, our local libraries will be able to continue to improve their services for patrons.”
The following libraries in the region Senator Ritchie represents will receive funding:
Jefferson County
Carthage Free Library: $39,195
Crosby Public Library: $166,939
Roswell P. Flower Memorial Library: $8,258
Theresa Free Library: $23,724
Oswego County
Fulton Public Library: $7,990
Mexico Public Library: $44,907
St. Lawrence County
Hepburn Library of Madrid: $42,720
Hepburn Library of Waddington: $28,650
Morristown Public Library: $67,787
Ogdensburg Public Library: $23,087
