May 9, 2017

State Senator Patty Ritchie is encouraging St. Lawrence County residents to dispose of waste tires at no cost during upcoming “Tire Take Back” days, happening on Saturday May 13th and Saturday May 20th.

“With the change in weather, many homeowners are cleaning up debris—such as unwanted waste tires—that that can act as a breeding ground for disease-carrying mosquitos,” said Senator Ritchie.  “I’m pleased to be once again partnering with St. Lawrence County officials to offer this free service to residents, which will not only help beautify our region, but also protect the public health.”

The events are being held in conjunction with the St. Lawrence County Solid Waste Department.  St. Lawrence County residents may dispose of up to eight tires at no cost and are encouraged to bring their unwanted waste tires from 12:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. to the following locations on May 13th:

Gouverneur Transfer Station

1831 US Highway 11

Massena Transfer Station

49 Dump Road (off Rt. 310)

Residents can also dispose of waste tires on Saturday, May 20th at the below locations from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.:

Ogdensburg Transfer Station

522 County Route 28A

Star Lake Transfer Station

4882 State Highway 3

Please note that tires on rims will not be accepted.

Since 2013, more than 50,000 waste tires have been collected through Senator Ritchie’s “Tire Take Back” events throughout Central and Northern New York.
