State Senator Patty Ritchie is teaming up with the Ogdensburg Salvation Army to collect food items for the Salvation Army’s Community Christmas Day Dinner.
The free dinner will be held Christmas Day at the Salvation Army’s location at 401 Franklin Street in Ogdensburg. A turkey dinner will be served at noon. The Salvation Army will also be delivering dinners to the three senior high rises in Ogdensburg. Residents of those buildings can sign up in their respective lobbies.
Senator Ritchie is asking people who can, to bring canned goods and other food items to her office in the basement of Ogdensburg’s City Hall at 330 Ford Street. Donations can be dropped off during regular business hours until Thursday December 14th.
“I want to make sure that everyone can enjoy a delicious, nutritious dinner on Christmas Day. That’s why I am asking for your help in making a donation to the Salvation Army to ensure no one is forgotten this Christmas,” said Senator Ritchie. “We’re looking for potatoes, canned cranberry sauce, canned corn, stuffing and canned cut green beans.”
"We want to thank Senator Ritchie for helping us with this important community event," said Salvation Army Lt. Shaun McNeil. "Together, we can make sure everyone has a place where they can spend Christmas Day."
Any wanting to make a donation after December 14th, should bring items directly to the Ogdensburg Salvation Army at 410 Franklin Street.
Senator Ritchie is also collecting canned goods and other non-perishable food items through December 14th at her Watertown office at 317 Washington Street and at her Oswego office at 46 East Bridge Street. Those items will be donated to organizations in Jefferson and Oswego Counties.
