Today the State of New York honored our heroic emergency responders at the Tree of Life Memorial in Albany. We recognized three EMS heroes who left us too soon while in the line of duty – Stephanie B. Potter, Norman Valle, and Larry Fuller. This Memorial shows our eternal gratitude for their service and honors the sacrifices of all fallen EMS personnel. Their spirit and memory will inspire us to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
The Memorial features a large granite table with a graceful, flowing “Tree of Life” engraved onto a slightly rounded surface. The “leaves” of the Tree are enamel-coated, stainless-steel “Stars of Life,” the national symbol of the EMS. Each leaf bears the name, organization and date of death of a member of the EMS system who has fallen in the line of duty.
