Bay Shore, NY -- New York State Senator Phil Boyle today announced he will host his 5th Annual Pet Food Drive in conjunction with Long Island Cares Baxter’s Pet Pantry and Live, Love, Bark. This year’s food drive will have a special focus on helping local animals in need. Senator Boyle’s office will be accepting donations of pet food and supplies from February 1st through February 28th.
Senator Boyle said, “For many of us, pets are a treasured part of our family. And, this wonderful event truly benefits those in our community -- especially the elderly and homebound. During these tough economic times many people need a little extra help to care for their beloved pets. That’s why I’m asking residents to show their support by taking part in our pet food drive.”
During last year’s drive, 2,148 pounds of pet-related items were donated.
From now until February 28th, Senator Boyle’s Office will be collecting pet supplies for dogs, cats, hamsters, fish, and ferrets. Items being accepted include, but are not limited to, bags of dry food, canned food, pet treats, kitty litter, bedding, cages, collars, leashes, and new pet toys. All donations can be dropped off at the Senator’s District Office at 69 West Main Street – Suite B, Bay Shore between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Special arrangements can be made after hours drop-offs by contacting the Senator’s District Office at 631-665-2311. All proceeds will benefit Long Island Cares, Inc.
