Statement from New York State Senator Rich Funke
April 3, 2017
Senator Rich Funke today issued the following statement:
“Today I helped pass a budget extender to keep state government open and continue to fund our schools and vital services. An extender was necessary because the Governor and downstate politicians in the Assembly are refusing to pass a budget unless it makes our state function even more like New York City – more taxes, more spending, and less common sense. Some of these politicians want to treat violent felons, murderers, and rapists as kids under the law. Instead, I believe we need a Raise the Age plan that protects public safety first. I remain committed to securing a budget that brings ridesharing upstate, rejects millions in proposed taxes and fees, and fully-funds our region’s top priorities, like job training, education, and public safety. I hope the extender we passed today provides the time needed for the Governor and Assembly to join us in delivering a budget that works for all taxpayers.”
