STATEMENT FROM NEW YORK STATE SENATOR RICH FUNKE
April 27, 2017
“I join our community in mourning the loss of John Hambleton, a wonderful, talented, and funny man who ultimately became a Rochester treasure. John and I started together at WHEC in 1974, left for brief stints in other markets at the same time a few years later, but quickly returned because Rochester was always home for us. In the years that followed, John became a great colleague and friend, as quick with a joke as he was passionate for the Red Sox and sports in general. I’ll always remember the nights spent with John behind the glass at Amerks games and I’ll never forget his distinctly curt demeanor and humor – a true New Englander at heart. My prayers are with John’s children, John Jr. and Debbie, and the entire Hambleton family.”
