The North Tonawanda Community is teaming up with Unyts to ensure that blood products are available for patients in need this summer. The demand for blood tends to outpace supply during the summer season, but Western New Yorkers have an opportunity to change that trend at a Unyts blood drive next week.

On Thursday, August 3rd the blood drive will run from 11:00am-6:00pm at DeGraff Memorial Hospital.  All presenting donors will receive a t-shirt and a hot dog.

The North Tonawanda Community has been so supportive of the blood drive, and many different people are pitching in to help make sure it is a success- the Kupiec Family in memory of their son Brandon, DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda High School, Police and Fire Departments, Senator Rob Ortt, and the Library.

Senator Rob Ortt (R,C,I – North Tonawanda) said, “A small amount of blood can have a huge impact on up to three individuals. It can mean the difference between life and death for accident victims, premature babies, cancer patients, organ recipients, and many others who rely on the generosity of blood donors. Please consider taking a few minutes to roll up your sleeve and helping to save a life.”

To schedule an appointment to donate blood, please contact Unyts at 716-512-7940, or you can sign up online at www.unyts.org and click on Donate Blood. Walk-ins always welcome.
