SENATOR SUE SERINO KICKS OFF ‘GIVING TUESDAY’ BY LAUNCHING ‘SEASON OF GIVING’ INITIATIVE

HYDE PARK, NY—This ‘Giving Tuesday’ Senator Sue Serino (R, C, I—Hyde Park) launched her ‘Season of Giving’ initiative to make it easier for community members to give back this holiday season. The unique initiative includes a series of drives running through the Dutchess and Putnam County Senate District Offices that will benefit local organizations in need of goods during the holiday season.
“I have seen first-hand just how much can be accomplished when our community rallies to help our neighbors in need and the holiday season is no exception,” said Senator Sue Serino. “I know that we’re all stretched thin, especially this time of year, but it is my hope that community members will take a few moments to take part in this year’s ‘Season of Giving’ and help us give back to our local community in a big way.”
In Dutchess County, these drives include:
- Food Drive—The winter weather too often makes it challenging for seniors to get the resources they need. Help make the holidays a little brighter for area seniors by donating non-perishable food items to be distributed to local, low-income senior housing communities—December 1st-18th; Drop Off Location: Senator Serino’s Hyde Park District Office;
- Toy Drive—Help make the holidays special for children in our community by donating a new toy to the Salvation Army’s Poughkeepsie Corps. December 1st – 18th Drop off location: Poughkeepsie Corps, 19 Pershing Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601; 845-471-1210; Or Senator Serino’s Hyde Park District Office;
- Troop Collection Drive— Help our local veterans in need this holiday season by donating to Hudson River Housing – Liberty Station. Help us make the holidays special for our veterans by donating personal hygiene products or a pair of warm socks. December 1st – 18th • Drop-Off Location: Senator Serino’s District Office.

Putnam County residents will also have three opportunities to give back to the local community this holiday season with Senator Serino’s Putnam Valley Office collecting goods to be distributed throughout the local area. These drives will also run from December 1st through the 18th and will include a food drive for area seniors as well as a drive for area veterans and the local SPCA. Details for these drives are as follows:
- Food Drive: Non-perishable food items can be dropped off directly to the Putnam Valley Community Food Pantry located at 337 Peekskill Hollow Road, Putnam Valley, NY 10579 by appointment (call 845-526-3788) or Senator Serino’s Putnam Valley Office;
- Drive to Benefit our Local Veterans: Help our local veterans in need this holiday season by donating daily essential items to United for our Troops. To view their ‘wish list’, visit www. unitedforthetroops.org/wish-list/ . Goods can be dropped off to Senator Serino’s Putnam Valley Office;
- Drive to Benefit the Putnam County SPCA: Help our furry friends in need this holiday season by donating pet food and toys to the Putnam County SPCA. Food can be dropped off at Senator Serino’s Putnam Valley Office.
