SERINO TO REMAIN AGING CHAIR

ALBANY, NY—With New York State Senate committee assignments officially handed up today, Senator Sue Serino (R, C, I—Hyde Park) announced that she will remain the Chair of the Senate’s Aging Committee.

“Having the opportunity to serve New York’s seniors has been a highlight of my time in the Senate and it is a distinct honor to continue doing so,” said Senator Serino, who was named Aging Chair in her first term. “Seniors here in our community, and beyond, should know that they have a dedicated advocate in their corner. As chair, I stand ready to ensure that their voices are heard, their rights remain a priority and their unique needs are met.”

Since being named chair in 2014, Senator Serino has actively worked to help New York seniors age in place, at home, in their communities. She has made combatting elder abuse through increased awareness and budgetary funding a top priority and she has worked tirelessly to secure additional resources for community services for the elderly—services that increase access to things like transportation and respite care that will help improve quality of life for New York seniors and their caregivers.

Serino continued, “Going forward, I will continue to work tirelessly to build on the progress made over the past two years. My commitment to tackling elder abuse and ensuring that our seniors have the resources they need to age in place remains unwavering, and I will continue to push to ensure that our seniors aren’t left behind come budget time.”

Serino has also been named to the following committees:

• Cultural Affairs and Tourism;
• Education;
• Higher Education;
• Insurance;
• Judiciary; and
• Mental Health.
