Yorktown, NY - When Yorktown Central School District Superintendent Dr. Ralph Napolitano and the District's Athletic Director, Fio Nardone, recently stepped out onto the high school baseball field, the pair celebrated one last notable accomplishment - the installation of two new scoreboards. Thanks to a $35,000 state grant secured by Senator Terrence Murphy, the Yorktown Huskers now have state-of-the-art scoreboards for their baseball and softball teams.
Senator Murphy also thanked the two retiring administrators for their tireless efforts on behalf of the School District, giving them proclamations in honor of their service. Dr. Napolitano is retiring after an illustrious 43-year career as a teacher, college professor, department chairperson and Assistant Superintendent. He has been Superintendent of the Yorktown Central School District for the past 11 years. Nardone has been Athletic Director for the District for the past 16 years. Nardone oversaw the construction of new turf and softball fields, and the renovation of the swimming pool, fitness centers and locker rooms at both the middle school and high school.
"As a native of Yorktown who graduated from this school, I am proud to see our Huskers get modern, eye-catching scoreboards that will help attract more fans," said Senator Murphy. "I would also like to congratulate and thank Dr. Napolitano and Coach Nardone for their many contributions to the School District. Dr. Napolitano has been an outstanding leader who cares deeply for the welfare and education of his students. Fio Nardone is more than a coach; he is a legend. He has built an impressive sports program and instilled a sense of sportsmanship and integrity in his players. Both men will be sorely missed."
