June 12, 2017
Pleasantville, NY - Senator Terrence Murphy was an honored guest at the Pleasantville Lab School graduation held on June 6th. Senator Murphy spoke with the students, congratulating them for their accomplishments and dedication to self-improvement.
Relating some of his experiences while building his two successful careers as a chiropractor and legislator Senator Murphy said, "Your future is bright. By graduating today, you have already achieved a great milestone. Always be proud of your accomplishments, but never forget to learn from your mistakes. Keep moving forward, keep making progress, and remember that your dreams can come true if you have the courage and dedication to pursue them."
Created for students 18-21 with intellectual or developmental difficulties, The Pleasantville Laboratory School at Westchester Community College provides social, vocational and adaptive living skills to help the student's transition into the adult world. Students work with their peers and gain valuable experience in areas such as business technology, marketing, and culinary arts. The School also helps students develop the tools they need to live independently, providing budgeting, time management, self-care and offers community-based internships with an eye toward encouraging the students to attend college and choose a career path.
