Senator Murphy's Commitment to Improving NY Infrastructure Spurs I-684 Resurfacing Project

Brewster, NY - There will be no more rockin' down the highway for beleaguered travelers and commuters. Drivers will be pleased with the results of a much-needed Interstate 684 resurfacing project that is currently underway and is scheduled to be completed before old man winter makes his anticipated arrival in mid-November.
 
Senator Terrence Murphy, who helped secure $62.2 million for the care and maintenance of roads in the Hudson Valley, recently met with New York State Department of Transportation engineers supervising the project and also toured the construction area. The project consists of pavement rehabilitation on Interstate 684 between Hardscrabble Road and Interstate 84 in the Town of North Salem in Westchester County and the Town of Southeast in Putnam County. The project also encompasses restoring pavement markings and road shoulders, repairing cracks, and upgrading drainage areas.
 
"Residents who travel along 684 have spent years having to endure rough and potentially hazardous sections of highway," said Senator Murphy. "The highway is also an important conduit for commerce throughout the Hudson Valley. Because of the heavy volume of traffic, there has been a lot of wear and tear on road surfaces. These improvements will help provide a safe, smooth drive, which in turn will help reduce traffic congestion."
