Avella Asks NYPD to Continue TAP Program
July 11, 2017
Queens, NY – State Senator Tony Avella sent the attached letter to Mayor Bill de Blasio and NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill to ask if the Trespass Affidavit Program (TAP) can continue to be a resource for homeowners.
TAP, which is designed to help property owners fight illegal trespassing for the purpose of combatting criminal activity.
While the program in its current form is being “revamped” it will no longer be an option for homeowners who wish to permit the NYPD to arrest unwanted visitors on their property.
Senator Avella closed his letter by asking the Mayor and Commissioner to review this matter and let him know if TAP can continue to operate while any changes are being made.
