Queens, NY – After years of waiting, Senator Tony Avella was informed by the Department of Transportation (DOT) that a traffic signal had been approved at the intersection of Hillside Avenue and 257th Street.
Senator Avella first contacted DOT on behalf of constituents in November of 2014 and again in 2015. This week, however, DOT called to let the Senator know that the traffic signal had finally been approved.
The traffic signal is set to be installed by June 30th.
“I am happy to report that, after nearly three years of asking, 257th Street is finally getting the traffic signal that residents have so dearly wanted. The importance of traffic controls can never be understated in the quest toward safer streets, I am sure that the residents of Hillside Avenue will have some of their worries eased by the installation of this traffic signal,” said Senator Avella.
