Queens, NY – This week, Senator Tony Avella sent the attached letter to the Acting President of MTA Bridges and Tunnels, Tim Mulligan regarding the severe traffic congestion near the Whitestone Bridge.
In the letter, Senator Avella writes, “I appreciate your June 19th response explaining your efforts to mitigate the traffic conditions in the area. However, you should know that the conditions have only become worse since construction began, particularly on the weekends. Most motorists are at a dead stop most of the time, while others choose to completely ignore traffic lights and ‘Stop’ signs.
“Clearly more must be done as soon as possible to address the nightmarish traffic conditions that Queens residents are dealing with on a daily basis.”
