Senator Larkin Announces $12.5 Million For City of Newburgh Infrastructure Improvements

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C-I, 39^th District) announced today that the City of Newburgh will receive $12.5 million to finance costs associated with the planning, design and construction of improvements based on the City of Newburgh’s Long-Term Control Plan for combined sewage collection system and wastewater treatment plant. 

“This funding is imperative for the City of Newburgh as it works to rebuild its water infrastructure,” said Senator Bill Larkin.  “I have never stopped working with local and state officials to ensure the greater Newburgh community had all of the resources that it needs to address the problems they continue to face.  I am pleased that our hard work has led to a sizeable financial contribution from New York State.  Cooperation and teamwork always produces positive results.”

The $12.5 million is a combination of a grant and a zero interest loan.  $3.1 million is part of a Water Infrastructure Improvement Act (WIIA) Grant.  $9.4 million is in the form of a zero interest loan.  This funding is through the the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation.
