(Grand Island, NY) – New York State Senator Chris Jacobs (60th SD) announced that he has secured $100,000 in state funds for the construction of a sculpture of Grand Island native and World War II Charles N. DeGlopper.
“I am honored to play a role in making this important memorial to Charles DeGlopper a reality here on Grand Island,” said Senator Jacobs. “Private DeGlopper’s heroism and valor at Normandy is incredibly inspirational, and it is fitting that his memory be honored with a statute in his hometown, and where his family still lives today.”
Senator Jacobs made the announcement at Memorial Day ceremonies at DeGlopper Memorial Park that were attended by Charles DeGlopper’s nephew Raymond who is Chairman of the American Legion Grand Island Post.
