(Buffalo, NY) – New York State Senator Chris Jacobs announced that he has secured $300,000 in capital assistance monies in the current state budget to support engineering, design and construction management services for a new water storage tank in the Town of Evans. Noting that additional storage capacity is needed to ensure continuity of water pressure and supply for town residents and businesses, Jacobs called the funding of the preliminary work an important economic development investment for the town.
“It is critically important that we invest in the infrastructure improvements necessary for our local governments to grow their economies and improve the quality of life in their communities,” said Senator Jacobs. “The increased water capacity from a new storage tank will enable the Town of Evans to attract more business investment, pursue additional residential development and reduce costs.”
Earlier this year, Town Supervisor Mary Hosler travelled to Albany to meet with Senator Jacobs and advocate for the necessary funding. At the time, she explained that the Erie County Department of Health first began requesting a new tower be built for the town back in 1998.
“I cannot express enough, the gratitude I have for Senator Jacobs and the support he gives to our community and taxpayers,” said Evans Supervisor Mary Hosler. “The funding for our water tower site evaluation and engineering comes at a critical time in the town’s financial recovery and stabilization, and I am grateful that our taxpayers will not have to bear this significant financial burden.”
The Town has contracted with Clark Patterson Lee whose services will include preliminary engineering, survey and mapping work, design and bidding services and construction administration. The firm is currently working with town officials to identify potential sites for the new storage tank.
