On Wednesday, October 10th, the Town and Village of Ossining joined forces with LiveOnNY to make a difference in the lives of New Yorkers by participating in the 4th Annual Organ Donor Enrollment Day.
“For the third year in a row, Team Ossining is once again leading the charge with this life-saving effort – to get as many people registered as organ donors as possible in one day,” said Town of Ossining’s Supervisor, Dana Levenberg. “Team Ossining brought in the most enrollments for a municipal team in the greater New York area last year and we aim to meet the challenge once again,” she added.
“I commend the Town and Village of Ossining for their work with LiveOnNY to increase registered organ donors,” said Senator David Carlucci. “If we educate others and raise awareness about the importance of organ donation then saving lives can be as easy as a stroke of the pen.”

“Organ donation is the gift of life. I made the decision to register as an organ donor years ago, and I feel good knowing that my donation may save the life of one or more of the over 10,000 people in New York State who are in need of a life-saving transplant," said Assemblywoman Sandy Galef.
Organ Donor Enrollment Day presents New Yorkers with a convenient opportunity to make their support known and to sign up as an organ and/or tissue donor.
In 2017, over 150 teams comprised of hospitals, organizations, colleges, donation advocates, elected officials and more worked in their respective communities and locations to run enrollment drives. The results were impressive -- 3,400 enrollments were collected, meaning there is potential to save 27,200 lives.
“Ossining residents care deeply about helping others,” said Village of Ossining Mayor Victoria Gearity. “Organ Donor Day is a special opportunity to sign up to help save lives. This year there are volunteers in more Ossining locations than ever, ready to register new donors.”
