Senator Phillips Attends Long Island Hispanic Chamber Of Commerce’s 13th Annual Latina Hat Luncheon

Senator Elaine Phillips recently attended the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s 13th annual Latina Hat Luncheon, which celebrates outstanding Latina role models, business leaders and community advocates.

“Hispanic women have reached the heights of all industries, including business, entertainment, medicine, law and journalism – and that is nowhere clearer than here on Long Island,” Senator Phillips said. “Congratulations to all of this year’s honorees for your achievements and for being outstanding role models and community advocates. Thank you to Chamber President Luis Vazquez and the Board of Trustees for inviting me to attend the celebration.”

The Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1988 and is dedicated to advancing the business needs of Long Island’s Hispanic community. The chamber helps provide members with business support, professional development workshops, advocacy programs, resource materials and networking opportunities that will help their businesses prosper.

• Entrepreneur of the Year - Mercedes Altman, NC C.A.S.A. Exec. Dir.
• Immigration Advocate of the Year - Gabriela Castillo
• Supreme Court Justice Award – Hon, Judge Carmen Velasquez, 11th Judicial District
