Senator Phillips Honors Library Workers From 7th Senate District
May 15, 2018
Senator Elaine Phillips recently presented New York State Proclamations to local library workers from the 7th Senate District for their commitment to libraries and their communities.
“Local libraries provide our communities with invaluable programs and resources for individuals of all ages, including books, workshops, film screenings, author events, classes, job training and more,” Senator Phillips said. “Those services are made possible by the dedicated library workers who create, organize and run them. Thank you to all the directors and congratulations to the honorees – you have truly made libraries the bedrock of our communities.”
Last month during National Library Week, Senator Phillips asked library directors from the 7th Senate District to nominate a staff member to be recognized for their outstanding work.
The honorees were Vivian Gong, of the Mineola Memorial Library; Deepa Chandra, of the Bryant Library; Edna Harpaul, of the Westbury Public Library; Muriel Alt, of the East Williston Public Library; Edward Escoffier, of the Hicksville Public Library; and Kathy Kane, of the Williston Park Public Library. Jonathan Aubrey, of the Great Neck Public Library, was honored posthumously, and his brother, David, accepted the Proclamation on his behalf.
