October 24, 2018
The National Federation of Business announced today that Senator Elaine Phillips has been selected as a 2018 New York State “Guardian of Business” in recognition of her outstanding voting record on small business issues.
“I have long believed that small businesses are the backbone of our communities here on Long Island and economic engines for new job growth throughout our state,” said Senator Phillips. “Small and independent businesses are integral in building our economy and creating a better future for our region and state. It is truly an honor to receive this award and I commend the NFIB and New York State Director Greg Biryla for their steadfast commitment to the success and growth of New York’s job producing businesses."
"Small and independent businesses are creating jobs, opportunity and vibrancy on Main Streets across Long Island. To ensure a strong future for small businesses and our local communities, we need leaders in Albany who are willing to challenge the status quo, fight for tax relief and deliver common-sense reforms that will help grow the small business economy and attract entrepreneurs to the Empire State. After just one term, Senator Elaine Phillips' voting record clearly demonstrates that she has small businesses' backs in Albany. NFIB is proud to name her as a 2018 New York State Guardian of Small Business," said Greg Biryla, NFIB's New York State Director.
“Families and individuals across the 7th Senate District have worked hard and made sacrifices to own their own business. Creating a favorable environment for small business to grow here in Nassau County and throughout the state is a top priority. I look forward to continuing to work closely with the NFIB as we strive to make New York State a better, and easier, place to start and successfully operate a business.”
NFIB is New York’s and the nation’s leading small business advocacy association, with offices in Washington, D.C. and all 50 state capitals. Founded in 1943 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, NFIB gives small and independent business owners a voice in shaping the public policy issues that affect their business. NFIB’s powerful network of grassroots activists send their views directly to state and federal lawmakers through our unique member-only ballot, thus playing a critical role in supporting America’s free enterprise system. NFIB’s mission is to promote and protect the right of our members to own, operate, and grow their businesses.
